Adults and families periodically go on Mission Trips. Destinations have included the Gulf coast in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In addition every year the Youth go on their own mission trip.
Every year the Youth go on their own Youth Mission Trip, often to depressed areas of Appalachia to tackle home repair jobs. This year they will go to Washington D.C. and work with refuge children.
St. Peter’s collects Campbell “Labels for Education” for the Henry Fork Service Center in Franklin County, Virginia and members also deposit change in a container at the back of the sanctuary for the Center. Henry Fork makes God’s love visible in this depressed area by providing educational assistance, Christian after school care, summer activities, a feeding program and a clothes closet. The Potato & Produce Project sponsored by The Society of St. Andrew is close to our hearts. In 2013 we had 40,000 pounds of potatoes dumped on the front yard of the church. Over 100 people joined in to bag the potatoes and reload them on the trucks for distrubution to those in need.
